the Akakus in the Libyan part of the Sahara. It is a magic place where you just have to come back to the basic: the real simple way of life! For a week it was only the 6 of us, the guide, the cook and 2 camel guys to guide the 7 camel that carry our stuff, water and food. We cross path with other human about twice for 10 minutes. We had a lots of fun and relaxation…and lots of walking in outstanding silence (except for the flies in day light :-() and landscape. We slept under the stars and the moon with beautiful red sand as bed: indescribable! relaxation…and lots of walking in outstanding silence (except for the flies in day light :-() and landscape. We slept under the stars and the moon with beautiful red sand as bed: indescribable! As surely most of us, before going there I had the misconception that desert meant dunes and dunes and dunes and more dunes and loads and loads of sand and more sand. Before leaving I really wonder what we will be doing for A WEEK in the desert: no bars, no TV, no Internet, no GSM, NOTHING except each other company and our boots. But in fact you have so many desert around the globe that you cannot even imagine. There are so many things to see, feel, experience. A friend of mine told me once that she was fascinated by deserts. At that time I really thought: how could you, it is only sand, silence and…nothing apart emptiness. After having the chance to get just a little glimpse of the desert, I can only acknowledge what she told me: the desert is no emptiness, it is full of things that only your heart and soul can see. It is a real personal experience and quite unique. All of us said the same thing: which desert do we go next?
